Ali Najmi attended a vigil in remembrance of the Charleston Nine on Sunday, June 28th at the Calvary Baptist Church of Jamaica located at 111-10 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. The event, organized by Public Advocate Letitia James, was attended by members of the South Asian and African American community and included Sikh, Hindu, Muslim and Christian community leaders. Ali Najmi provided remarks to the multi-faith crowd stating “Those bullets traveled all the way from South Carolina to Queens and pierced our hearts. Those bullets also brought us together here today as one community. We will continue working together to ensure we all succeed together”. Najmi is a candidate for the New York City Council.
